FAQs

Everything you ever wanted to know about working with a professional organizer

Will you make me throw out my belongings?

No.  The decision on what to keep, what to donate and what to toss is always yours.  However, you have probably hired us to help you pare down your belongings so what we do is remind you of your organizing goals and help you work towards them as comfortably as possible.

How do I find the professional organizer who is right for me?

Organizing is a very personal service, and it is a good idea to speak to more than one professional organizer before you hire one.  Look for someone who understands and is experienced and educated about any particular issues related to your situation and with whom you feel comfortable.  A sense of humour can really help too! My colleague Geralin Thomas, CPO-CD® has written a great blog entry on this subject.

How long will my organizing job take?

The short answer is, “I don’t know”!  Each job is different, and each client must work toward their organizing goals at their own pace.  Organizing is tough emotional work, and that often takes people by surprise.  It is important for the ongoing success of the project that the client be involved with the organizing process.    We will encourage and “cheerlead” you through the work, but we can’t make decisions for you.  How quickly you are able to make decisions will affect how long the job will take.  We are committed to focusing exclusively on you and your project while we are together, and will do what we can to move the job along.  We will not waste your time or money.

How much will it cost?

We offer a variety of services designed to suit many budgets.  The cost of your organizing project is affected by a number of factors, including which type of service you choose, how quickly you are able to work through the process, the time you have to commit to the project, and if there are any special circumstances.  Please contact us for more information.
